The year of dog in Chinese zodiacal calendar signifies an auspicious omen of wealth and prosperity. By adopting “dog” as the theme of this exhibition, Hsinchu Municipal Glass Museum intends to present the crystal clear magnificence of glass word and to wish all citizens of Hsinchu City a prosperous year. Through creative mastering of glasswork technique, all participating artists have successfully instilled the core value, harmony, of Chinese culture into their collections. To capture the subtle and plaintive details of Chinese aesthetics, and to display, through the solid volume of glasswork, the magnitude of ancient Chinese history, exhibition project has been launched.
In addition to members of Wind City Glass Workers Association, several local glasswork artists have added colors to the year of dog exhibition by applying varied glasswork techniques, such as neon glass, glass cutting, sandblasting painting, glazing stained glass, lampworking, solid carving, pulling threads, hollow-blow molding, complex medium, glass inlay, etc. Viewers and glasswork lovers will have a personal experience of the delicate, cool, colorful, and transparent carving texture exclusive to the oriental vocabulary, which contributes to the uniqueness of each individual piece.
